Composite disc springs have a significant advantage over carbon steel because they are typically 70% lighter, noncorrosive, chemical resistant, and non-magnetic. Their composite material construction provides a high strengthto- weight ratio compared to traditional metallic construction and can be designed to provide the same functional performance as steel components. Composite disc springs are available in 2 designs: The CPW series is intended for use comparable to a metallic disc spring and the CCBS (Carbon Composite Bellows™ Spring) series is designed to be used as a replacement for a helical compression spring. The CCBS product features more deflection than a standard disc spring, it does not require the use of an ID or OD guide, and can be adapted for varying rate curve requirements.
